This project supports 180 farmers of the cooperative Mpambolin’ Ambanivolo in the Mananara-Nord biosphere reserve in the production and marketing of certified organic vanilla pods.

The cultivation of vanilla allows the harmonious coexistence of human beings and nature and prevents ecological over-exploitation. The traditional knowledge of the local population and the hot, humid rain forests in the north-east of Madagascar form the ideal basis for exquisite-tasting bourbon vanilla. The vanilla project is conducted by Interkooperation, Slowfood and the Madagascan National Agency for the Management of Protected Areas (ANGAP).
